Our Speakers:

Martin Stone, Partner – Risk Consulting Grant Thornton Australia,

Martin has held wide-ranging roles in financial crime risk management in Australia and Europe over the last 20 plus years, including as AML/CTF Compliance Officer at two of Australia’s leading financial services organisations, and Divisional Money Laundering Reporting Officer at two of Australia’s largest banks.

His work includes leading and implementing enterprise-wide ML/TF risk assessments and responding to AML/CTF Independent Reviews conducted in accordance with the Australian AML/CTF regime.

Martin has also led the design and integration of financial crime teams during the merger of two Australian financial services and participated in designing the financial crime target operating model for one of Australia’s largest banks.

He has a demonstrable history of partnering with business functions and business executives to ensure risk and control environments are understood and appropriate for the business, as well as aligned to the financial crime risks faced.

Martin has been providing specialist AML/CTF consultancy services since 2022 and has supported businesses in responding to formal AUSTRAC investigations as well as undertaking reviews to confirm the completion of AML/CTF remediation activity.

Adam Maric, Principal Solicitor and Director, Symphony Legal,

Adam is the Principal Solicitor and Director of Symphony Legal, a boutique law firm with a strong focus on property law and commercial transactions. With over a decade in legal practice and deep roots in the conveyancing community, he brings both technical expertise and real-world experience to the challenges faced by conveyancing practitioners.

As a member of the AIC VIC Legal Panel, Adam provides practical, solutions-oriented advice to firms across the state. He’s also a familiar face at AIC events, where his presentations aim to build confidence, clarify complex issues, and support professional growth.

He approaches his work with the view that legal knowledge should empower, not intimidate. Whether through one-on-one guidance or CPD presentations, his goal is to make legal issues more navigable and less daunting for conveyancers, helping the profession build resilience, clarity, and confidence in an ever-changing landscape.

Andy Corfield and Tanya Grabnar, ASTA Building Consultants 

ASTA Building Inspections is comprised of Andy Corfield and Tanya Grabnar. They are a builder/architect team with over 70 years combined experience in the building industry.

Andy has more than 40 years of experience in the building industry, having completed his apprenticeship in Carpentry/Joinery in England in 1981, before emigrating to Australia in 1986.

Throughout the years, Andy has gained a wealth of knowledge and expertise in both commercial and residential properties, with experience in supervising, property management, building and carpentry. His experience within residential building has been broad and includes building new homes and extending and renovating existing homes.

Andy has a Certificate 4 and Diploma in Building and Construction and is also a Registered Builder within Victoria and Queensland. He has also co-founded a development and construction company that involved purchasing proper es to subdivide blocks and build new homes, which also expanded into multi -unit developments.

Tanya has 30 years of experience as an architect in the building industry, having completed a Bachelor of Planning and Design and a Bachelor of Architecture both at Melbourne University, before registering as an Architect in Victoria 1995.

Throughout the years, Tanya has gained extensive knowledge and experience in both commercial and residential buildings and development. Her experience includes ac ng as a team leader, drawing, designing, specification writing and project management on a wide range of building types and scale. Over the last 20 years she has focused on
designing and delivering residential buildings including extensions, new homes and unit developments.

Together Andy and Tanya utilise the knowledge and skills that they have both gained over the years to expand into another aspect of the building industry and off er this knowledge to their clients.
